About Us

Changing Lives, One Student at a Time

Our Philosophy

At Pathways Private School, our curriculum is based on the premise that children learn in different ways. Since Pathways Private School opened in 1996, the goal of our dedicated staff has been to provide a safe and family-like atmosphere for students who may not fit the mold of the typical student in a traditional school. Our teachers tailor their curriculum to educate students in the manner in which they learn best. Pathways Private School small class size allows our teachers to provide challenging, hands-on learning activities. Students get the attention needed to nurture their individual strengths and build upon any skills that are less developed.

School Administrators

Jennifer Kite President, Founder

Orlando native, Jenny Kite, is the driving force behind the founding of the Gift of Learning Foundation and Pathways Private School in March of 1996.

It was her desire to create an educational institution that made the needs of the children top priority. Jenny received her degree in Child Development and Family Services from Brigham Young University.

As a mother of ten children she is well aware of the hard work and dedication it takes to raise good citizens, and holds a strong belief that education in and out of the home plays a vital role in raising productive individuals. Her firsthand knowledge, experience, insight and common sense approach is evident in the family-like atmosphere of Pathways Private School.

Jenny is an advocate for adoption and often speaks at conferences and workshops about the positive aspects of adoption. She often counsels and mentors young parents involved in the adoption process.

Christina James Vice President, Principal

An officer of the Foundation, Christy James began with Pathways Private School as a teacher and has served as Principal since 1997. She oversees all operations of the school.

Prior to joining the Pathways’ Team, Christy served as Director/Assistant Director at a private school and was a teacher at several schools in her native state of Tennessee.

As a certified teacher, Christy has experience teaching Grades K – 8th, Special Education, Title 1, Chapter 1, Gifted Programs, and Pre-Kindergarten. She obtained her degree in Elementary Education at Austin Peay University and currently holds her Advanced Director’s Credential. Her experience counseling children and adults serves her well in her position.

She also spends time consulting for Private Schools and agencies that serve children. Hobbies include: reading, making jewelry, and collecting vintage jewelry and clothing.
